MENDOZA
The city of Mendoza has approximately 120,000 inhabitants. It is located at the foot of the Andes mountain range, 750 m above sea level. The Mendoza River, coming from the union of rivers, streams and mountain glaciers, provides the water consumed by the city and the fields and vineyards.
It is an oasis city, with an ingenious artificial irrigation system. It is characterized by its groves, ditches, wide paths and green spaces, such as the General San Martín artificial park of 510 hectares.
It is the International Capital of Wine. It is the ideal starting point for excursions along the Wine Roads, the mountains, the hot springs and the nature reserves.
It has an active artistic and cultural life: theaters, museums, art galleries and handicraft exhibitions are part of its daily offer. At night, it offers options for Mendoza citizens and visitors. Street Aristides Villanueva offers bars, pubs and discos for the youngest. Mendoza has an arid and continental climate, temperatures present an important annual oscillation and rainfall is scarce.
The summer is hot and humid, it is the rainiest time and the average temperatures are above 25 ° C. The winter is cold and dry, with average temperatures below 8 ° C, occasional night frosts and scarce rainfall. Falling snow and sleet are rare, usually occurring once a year, although with little intensity in the highest areas of the city.
The city can be reached by plane, via Francisco Gabrielli International Airport (El Plumerillo), or by land, by national routes No. 40 and 7 that connect Mendoza with the entire country and also with Chile.
